djot is a light markup syntax. It’s an alternative to Markdown born out of the problems that John MacFarlane found when contributing to the CommonMark SpecificationRead more about that here.
It’s designed to be easy to parse while retaining much of the common features from Markdown. My favorite feature is that it natively supports footnotes, which I’ve used to power my sidenotes here on my website.
